What's different about this job
Big Bear Fire Department runs weed-abatement inspections across the valley — except Fawnskin, which falls to San Bernardino County. Two jurisdictions, two processes, and almost nobody tells you which one you are in. We do.
What is included
- Zone 1 (0–30 ft) and Zone 2 (30–100 ft) clearing to current PRC 4291 guidance
- Ladder fuel removal and limbing up
- Pine-needle and roof-and-gutter debris removal
- On-site chipping or green-waste haul-off
- Before-and-after photos and a written scope you can hand to your insurer
What the inspection actually looks at
Inspectors are looking for dead fuel, continuity, and ladder fuels — anything that lets fire climb from the ground into the canopy or reach the structure. Needles on the roof and in the gutters are the single most common citation in this valley.
Documentation
Every job is photographed before and after, zone by zone, with a written scope. That packet goes to you by email. Carriers ask for it, buyers’ agents ask for it, and it is the only proof you have that the work was done to standard.
Absentee owners
You do not need to be here. Send the address, we clear, we document, we invoice.
Questions we hear
Will this pass inspection?
That is the standard we work to. We clear to current PRC 4291 guidance and document it. Inspection outcomes are the fire district's call, not ours, but we will come back and correct anything they flag on work we performed.
What about the new Zone 0 rules?
California's Zone 0 (0–5 ft) rulemaking was withdrawn from OAL review on 2026-09-08, so there is no enforceable statewide Zone 0 rule and no effective date right now. We can clear to the proposed Zone 0 standard voluntarily — several insurers already ask for it — but we will not tell you it is legally required when it is not.
Do you do absentee properties?
Most of our fire work is for owners who are not here. We schedule, clear, photograph and send the documentation. No one needs to be on site.
